Why Seamless Gutters Are Worth It

All Aluminum Gutters

When selecting a gutter system for your home, you’re probably looking for two things: functionality and curb appeal. We don’t blame you! Lucky for you, seamless aluminum gutters have both qualities all wrapped into one -- and then some!
Curb Appeal - Seamless gutters are just how you would imagine -- seamless. Each piece is custom cut to the exact length of your exterior walls. That way, you’ll have a sleek look from any angle.

Easy Installation -
Since they’re cut-to-fit, seamless gutters also happen to be one of the more easier options when it comes to installation. However, since each section can be several feet long, it takes a few people to hold and secure the gutters in place, so we don’t recommend you DIY.

Long-Lasting - There’s nothing quite as durable as an aluminum gutter system, but even more so when it’s seamless. Less connective points means there are less opportunities for leaking, sagging and rusting to occur. On average, seamless gutter can last up to 30 years.

Since they’re custom made, seamless aluminum gutters are certainly a bit more pricey, but they’re certainly still affordable. After all, the price you pay now can save you money on the price you pay for water damage caused by a faulty gutter system in the future.

All Aluminum Gutters is your one stop shop for all your gutter cleaning, gutter repair and gutter installation needs! Serving all of Nassau County, Suffolk County, Queens, Westchester and the Bronx, we also handle roofing and siding installation and repair. Invest in Gutters and Boost ROI

All Aluminum Gutters

Experts have determined that having an improperly functioning gutter system will drastically diminish your home’s ROI when it comes time to sell. That being said, investing in your gutter system is one of the best ways to boost your home’s value, while giving it some added stability and curb appeal. If your home is in need of gutter repairs here’s a quick breakdown of the must-do renovations and add-ons you should consider based on budget.
Low - Looking to install a high quality gutter system in the most inexpensive fashion? Vinyl gutter systems are your best bet. Not only are they the cheapest alternative, but they’re also easy to install and a favorite among DIYers everywhere. They’re long lasting and are resistant to rust and peeling, and are especially easy to maintain.

Standard - If you want to take your gutter system up a notch, consider a galvanized steel system. While they’re a bit more pricey, steel gutters have built their reputation on being extremely durable. They’re strong enough to hold up to wear and tear from ladders and fallen branches, and are noted for their long-lasting, rust-free high shine.

High - Seamless aluminum gutters are the finest in gutter system installation options -- and they just so happen to be our specialty! Not only are they low maintenance, but their seamless design makes them a sleek and stylish addition to any home’s exterior. Plus, their seamless structure offers the utmost protection against leaks, cracks and water damage.

At All Aluminum Gutters, we provide a wide variety of gutter installation options so you can select the material and style that fits your home and your budget perfectly. If you live on Long Island, in Queens, the Bronx, Westchester or the surrounding areas and need help choosing the perfect gutter system to fit your home’s needs, give us a call at 631-816-2498 and our gutter experts would be happy to assist you!

The History of Rain Gutters

All Aluminum Gutters

We all know how important it is to have rain gutters on our homes, but did you ever wonder where in the world they came from? The history of rain gutters is actually quite fascinating, dating way back to 3000 B.C. in the ancient civilizations of Rome, Greece and Egypt. Read on to learn all about rain gutters and how the idea to catch and divert rain emerged and  evolved over time.
The first drainage systems. Ancient civilizations recognized the need to control water drainage early on, constructing runoff systems made of stone, brick and wood . In fact, the 1st century Romans are known for their intricate drainage systems, meant to keep their streets water free. Early water redirection systems on buildings featured a spout at the edge of the roof, usually shaped as a lions mouth, that shot water to the ground. However, the majority of ancient water drainage was used to transport water from one place to another, in lieu of what we know as modern day plumbing.

Gargoyles, not just for decoration.
As a direct response to an old 7th century legend about La Gargouille, a slayed fire-breathing dragon, the Gargoyle became a common staple of Western European architecture, replacing many of the previous lion-mouth spouts. The Italians actually called these intricate gargoyle statues “gronda sporgente,” which fittingly translates to “protruding gutter.”

Gutter systems begin to improve. In the mid-1200s gutters began to evolve from animal-mouthed water spouts to wood, lead and clay-tile gutter systems, downspouts and all. In 1240, the Tower of London became the first building to be outfitted with a fully functioning gutter system, as a precautionary measure to protect it’s white walls. From then on the popularity of gutter systems skyrocketed, transitioning from lead to cast iron in the 1800s. By the 18th century gutters were a standard on many homes, and the introduction of mass-marketed metal gutters came during the Industrial Revolution.

Seamless aluminum gutters are introduced. Aluminum gutters had already gained a ton of traction by the 1960s, but the invention of seamless gutter technology took them to the next level. Today, more than 70 percent of homeowners enjoy the benefits of a seamless aluminum gutter system.

Rain gutters have certainly come a long way! Everything You Need to Know About Gutters

Believe it or not, gutters are not one size fits all! The first step in deciding to install a new gutter system is learning about the different shape options and color styles available, and figuring out what works best with your budget, and your home's structure and design. For your convenience we’ve compiled a quick gutter overview, including the most popular styles and gutter materials for you to choose from.

First, let’s review the two basic gutter types, which are named after the shape of their cross sections:

  1. K-Style - These gutters have a flat bottom and back, and a decorative front side that resembles crown moulding. The K-Style gutter comes in many different ornate designs and patterns to suit your home’s personal style. This style is popular for it’s high water capacity, which doubles that of half-round gutters.

  2. Half-Round - Just as its name suggests, half-round style gutters are rounded from front to back. This style is typically found on historic homes, or older construction with natural character. Although these gutters hold less water than K-Style gutters, they are considerably cheaper at nearly 50% less cost.
Next, we’ll go over the most common types of gutter materials that you can choose from:
  • Aluminum - This is the most commonly used material because it’s in low cost and DIY friendly. Aluminum gutters will not rust and are available in a variety of colors, and can even be painted to match your home perfectly.
  • Copper - Choosing this option will be the heavier on your budget, but the beauty of copper gutter systems is unmatched. These gorgeous gutters don’t need to be painted, but will develop a natural patina over time. Copper gutters need to be welded together when installed, so professional installation is required..
  • Seamless Aluminum - Also referred to as continuous gutters, this option is custom molded right at the job site, and must be done by a professional. The gutter installation professional will form the appropriate gutter lengths to fit your home, using a large spool of flat aluminum and a gutter-forming machine. According to HouseLogic.com, “about 70% of all gutter installations are the seamless type.”This option is average in price and gives your home a fully-finished, sharp look.
  • Steel - Though slightly more pricey than aluminum and seamless aluminum, steel gutters are extremely strong and resist rust for up to 10 years. They come in a variety of colors and can be painted. Professional installation is recommended due to the material’s heavy weight.
At All Aluminum Gutters, we provide all of these gutter options and more! Our high quality customer service and commitment to providing top notch products at affordable rates is what makes us the obvious choice for all of your gutter installation and repair needs. Three Types of Gutter Damage to Look Out For

All Aluminum Gutters, Gutter Cleaning Tips, Gutter Damage

Spring has sprung, and we’re sure you’re looking forward to a little spring cleaning action. While you’re pruning your bushes, mowing your lawn and undoubtedly cleaning all of those leaves and winter sludge out of your gutters, make sure to keep an eye out for these three types of damage that can be caused by faulty or unkept gutters.

Foundation Damage: As you know the primary function of any gutter system is to funnel water off of the roof and safely away from your home’s foundation. Failing to thoroughly clean your gutters can lead to clogging from debris, which will cause water to spill over the side of the gutter system. So, what’s the big deal? As a result, water will drip down the side of the house and can begin to pool around the foundation. This can potentially lead to cracks and damage to your home’s foundation, and in many cases also fosters a breeding ground for pesky mold to grow.

Wood Damage: Fascia boards, which are the long, straight, wooden boards that run along the lower edge of the roof, are responsible for supporting the gutter system in its entirety. Since a clog will cause your gutters to fill with water, if left unattended for long enough the fascia boards will begin to deteriorate and rot. Overflow can also cause significant damage to homes with wooden siding.

Landscape Damage: Springtime means that your gardens will be blossoming in no time! Don’t let overflow from clogged gutters pool in your flowerbeds. Over-watering can cause severe damage to your landscaping. It will cause the plant roots to become too saturated to be able to absorb and store the water. Since plants need water to breathe and perpetuate, the roots of your lavish landscapes will begin to rot and die. Keep an eye out for wilting, curling or yellowing foliage, as this can indicate a watering or gutter issue.

Keeping these three possible types of gutter damage in mind should make your spring gutter cleaning a little more bearable!

At All Aluminum Gutters, we are committed to keeping your home healthy. We take pride in providing the highest quality materials and gutter cleaning services at an affordable price to the Long Island, Queens, Bronx and Westchester areas. For more information or to schedule an appointment for your free consultation and estimate, please give us a call at 631-816-2498 today.

Benefits Of Installing Seamless Gutters

Benefits of seamless gutters, All Aluminum Gutters
If you needed to have new gutters installed recently, then you have probably already experienced having to decide between seamless or sectional products. But if you haven't and anticipate needing to do so over the next few months, choosing between the two is a task you are likely about to face.

Now we know what you're thinking - which type are you supposed to pick? To help you with your research before you commit to a certain product, we put together the following to outline the benefits of installing seamless gutters:
  1. Since sections do not need to be connected, therefore eliminating any visible spaces and sealant that can be worn down, seamless gutters minimize the likelihood that a leak will develop.
  2. Due to their design, seamless gutters are much easier to clean. This is because there are no ridges along the bottom (which develop when seams are present) and therefore, there is less opportunity for debris to back up and cause a clog.
  3. Although all types of aluminum gutters are durable, seamless versions are known to have an even longer lifespan since there are no joints that will be deteriorated by the outdoor elements.
  4. When it comes to installation, installing seamless gutters is a pretty seamless process! That means you won't have too much of your day interrupted for construction purposes.
  5. Last but not least, seamless gutters are aesthetically pleasing to look at since there are no visible breaks in the material!
Have you made your decision yet? If you're looking for someone to install brand new seamless gutters on your Long Island, Westchester or Queens home, we encourage you to call All Aluminum Gutters! We always install the highest quality products at an affordable price.
